About SmallPracticeTech

Community-powered technology recommendations for the practices that need them most.

Why We Exist

Small medical practices with one to five providers face a unique technology challenge. Enterprise solutions are too expensive and too complex. Consumer tools are not HIPAA-compliant. And the technology review landscape is dominated by content designed for hospital systems and large groups, leaving small practice owners to figure things out on their own.

SmallPracticeTech was created to fill that gap. We are a community of small practice owners, administrators, office managers, and clinicians who share real-world experience with the technology tools that run our practices. Our reviews and recommendations are based on actual usage in small practice settings, not vendor-sponsored demos or enterprise deployments.

How We Evaluate Products

Every product on SmallPracticeTech is evaluated through the lens of a small medical practice with one to five providers. We consider ease of use, total cost of ownership (not just the advertised price), integration capabilities, vendor support quality, and real-world impact on practice operations. Our ratings reflect the collective assessment of our community, weighted toward the factors that matter most to small practices.

We do not accept payment for reviews, and our ratings are not influenced by vendor relationships. When a product earns our Community #1 Pick designation, it is because the community has consistently identified it as the best option in its category for small practices.

Who We Serve

Our audience is the owner, administrator, or lead clinician of a small medical practice who needs to make technology decisions without dedicated IT staff. Whether you are starting a new practice from scratch, evaluating a switch from your current tools, or just trying to understand what is available, SmallPracticeTech provides the honest, practical guidance you need.

Editorial Independence

SmallPracticeTech maintains full editorial independence. Product reviews reflect real community experience, and our recommendations are based solely on merit. We believe that the best way to serve our community is with honest, transparent assessments, even when that means pointing out limitations in popular products.

If you have questions about our review process, want to suggest a product for review, or want to share your own experience with a tool, we welcome your input. This site is built by and for the small practice community.
